Hello, nice to meet you.
The Korean greeting 안녕하세요 [Annyonghaseyo] can be used in almost any situation. There is no difference among morning, afternoon, and evening greetings in the Korean Language, and also between people who meet for the first time or people who know each other well. It is okay to say just 안녕 [Annyong] to close friends or to people younger than you.
The expression 반갑습니다 [bangapsumnida] means “Nice to meet you.” in English. The title of a popular folk song in North Korea is 반갑습니다 [bangapsumnida]. For a more exact expression, you can insert 만나서 [mannaso] at the beginning. Inserting 만나서 [mannaso] usually indicates that it is a first meeting.
