In Korean, phone numbers are read one at a time. The number ‘0’dis usually read as ‘gong.’ The hyphen between the numbers is read as ‘에'[e]. However, a hyphen that appears after area codes, such as 02, 031, 011 and 016, is usually not read aloud. It is also good to know that cell phones here are referred to as “hand phones.” Try saying your phone number in Korean!
